August Pre-school Activities

Here is the Round up of this months Pre-school activities!

The first one was a $1 Kids summer movie at the "expensive theater."  They were playing the Winnie the Pooh movie.  We were not able to make it due to I was packing for our family reunion that weekend.

The next activity was Manila Creek Pond.  This was actually super fun (for the most part)!  It is this super cute little man made reservoir in Pleasant Grove/American fork with this great beach area for the kids to play in.  It is only 1 year old so the reservoir is still really clean and the kids had a blast.  We took a picnic lunch and put up our beach umbrellas and had a great time!

Best buds enjoying the water!

Hard at work!

So now that you have checked out the fun pictures there is a short story to tell.  We were present when a tragic accident happened.  All of the moms from our group had left, except Yadira and I.  We were getting ready to leave ourselves when a mom came running out of the water carring her 7 year old daughter who was life-less, and the mom was screaming for help.  The little girl had drowned right there.  We don't know how it happened, just that when the mom realized her daughter was missing, she went in the water to look and found her floating face down.  A registered nurse (who was there) immediately started doing CPR and did it for 20 minutes until the paramedics arrived who were also unable to revive her.  The beach was packed with Moms and kids and we all watched in horror, hoping and praying for this little girl to come back.  I think it was so horrifying because we all realized in that moment that it could have been any one of us that day, it could have been our child.  Yadira and I both cried and left the pond completely restless.  Later that evening we saw it on the news that the little girl had indeed died.  Our kids never even knew what had happened, they were having so much fun, but it was a shocking, shocking day that I will never forget.

On to happier days... Our next activity was Temple Square!  This is one of my kids favorites because we get the ride the Trax train into down town!
Riding into town
Once there we went to the childrens exhibit in teh church history museum.  This is such a fun place for kids!  It is a mini childrens museum and it is all Gospel related!  I love it!  And the kids always have a lot of fun!

Isabel had fun too!
Then we went to the new City Creek Center...wow!  it was amazing!  I can't wait to go back!
Then we rode the train back with Veronica and Xochitl and kids!  This is Sariana, Benjamin tells me he plans on marring her someday! :)
And this is Sophi, she and Abby are just a ball of mischief!
The next activity was the Dinosaur Museum on a $2 Tuesday!  I know, we already went!  But we went again with our Pre-school friends and my kids didn't mind at all going again!  We did do one different thing we went and experienced their exhibit on the art of listening!  It was really cool!

Abby thought they were for squishing your cheeks! LOL

Playing the Drums!

They really liked this!
I especially like how Abby sticks our her tongue in concentration!
Then we headed into the Dinosaur museum!  Fun Day!

Our last activity was really fun, but I forgot to take pictures.  Unfortunately not many from our group showed up, but we found this amazing park out in Saratoga Springs called Neptune Park and it had some very different but fun playground equiptment!  including this 30 foot climbing pyramid!

$2 Tuesdays!

We love $2 Tuesdays at Thanksgiving Point!  They do it every year in August.  And although it gets pretty crowded, the price is just right so we go every year and every year the kids look forward to it!  So the first week we went to the Dinosaur Museum!  This was especially fun because one of my good friends (Jen) from High School came and I hadn't seen her since my wedding 7 years ago!  I just love her!  It was so fun and our kids got along great!  We will definitely be getting together again soon!

The kids!  This is the result of when you tell kids to say "cheese" and they are watching a television! Ha ha!

I love how Jen's daughter is pretending to be a shark!
Me and Jen!  Such a fun day and so good to hang with her!

The following week my Mom & Fred & Judith came down and we went to the Gardens!  I didn't get many pics though, because I had to leave for a while to take Benji to his first Music class.  But it was my Mom's and Fred & Judith's first time to the Gardens and they absolutely loved it!  This is probably my favorite venue.

Beautiful!

The last week Yadira and I went to the Farm country.  The boys didn't get to stay long because they had to be to school at 12, but it was still a blast especially when we are with our best friends!
Hay Ride
Note: I don't know why some of these pictures uploaded sideways, I flipped them on my computer before I uploaded, but when they uploaded some of them flipped back!  Oh well, I still upload them because when I make my blog book then I will flip them the right way for the book. :)

First Day of School!

Can you Believe it?!!! I have a Kid in School!  I can barely believe it!  5 years has sure flown by since he was just a little round chubby baby.  And now he is in Kindergarten!   When I dropped him off, I didn't cry, but I got real emotional and teary eyed and almost cried, but I held it in!  But Benjamin just loves school!  And loves that he is a big kid, going to school with all the big kids!  I miss him while he is gone, but the break is nice too and it hasn't quite hit me yet, we will see in the coming months!

Summer Sports

This summer Abby participated in a Summer Dance Program once a week and Benjamin participated in 2 different Summer camps!  Basketball in July and Soccer in August!  They loved it!  It was a lot of fun!

Benji did Basketball camp first and allthough I thought it was a little pricey, it ended up being well worth it!  It was so good!  He learned soooo much!  And he loved it!  It was K- 8th grade so he was one of the littlest guys there and I was worried that he would not be able to keep up, but he totally did!  I was super impressed with how well he did and how much he learned and he had so much fun!  Unfortunately I did not get very many pics because I had to take them from up above, but oh well.
Dribbling Drill
Shooting
After 3 hours of Basketball, he was exhausted!  This was him most days after lunch!  Poor little guy!

Then in August it was Soccer Camp!  This was fun too, but we will probably find something else next year because, all though it was fun, he did not learn anything.  Isaac and I were really disappointed with the guys who ran this camp.  It was half the price of Basketball camp... you get what you pay for I guess.  But he did have fun, so that was good!

I don't know why this is turned, it was the right way before I uploaded it... oh well

On the last day they even had the parents get in on the fun!
